Ako Castle in Ako, Hyogo, was built in the early Edo period after the Asano clan took control of the domain. Designed with Koshū‑style military principles, it is a flatland coastal castle. It never had a tenshu, and the tenshu base remains as a reminder of its administrative focus. The area is also famous as the home of the Ako Ronin, and nearby sites connect deeply to the world of Chushingura.
