Overview
Nihonmatsu Castle (Kasumi Castle) is a hilltop castle site in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima. Founded in the Muromachi period and later developed in the Edo period, it’s now known as Kasumigajo Park—famous for seasonal scenery such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.

Access
From JR Nihonmatsu Station it’s about 5 minutes by car, or around 30 minutes on foot. The gentle uphill walk is also a pleasant approach.

Free parking is available near the honmaru area. You can also park near the Castle Information Center at the foot of the hill and walk up after learning the history.

Start at the Castle Information Center (small admission fee). After reaching the honmaru, explore the back side for a great view combining flowers and stone walls; the two‑tier stone wall below the former tenshudai is especially impressive from a low angle.
